What I Do

Coaching

There’s a quote I love from Nancy Kline which has become a philosophy for the way I coach: “Usually the brain that contains the problem also contains the solution – often the best one.”

When I work with you, I give you space to bring whatever you need to to the table. Then we’ll take the time you need to explore it - something we don’t often afford ourselves. I’ll help you trust yourself to do the things you need to, to get to where you need to go.

People I coach come to me with all sorts of things. They might need to work on their self-confidence, better their work-life balance. They might want to unlock their creativity or transform their personal relationships. Whatever you’re hoping to achieve, we’ll set goals and work towards them during our time together.

Alice is a fantastic coach, she is amazing at listening and really cleverly asking questions to guide you to identify the real root cause of pain points in your life - its like magic!”

Words for Wellbeing

Words for Wellbeing is a programme which combines the meeting points between writing, health and wellbeing and promotes writing as a way to spark creativity.

Delivered in various IRL formats or as a self-guided ebook which can be downloaded, the content covers various forms of writing including journaling, creative non-fiction, fiction and poetry, as well as narrative medicine. Participants will try black out poetry, play around with narratives and reframe their experiences to see what works for them. I can provide support to discuss any issues that arise while exploring issues throughout the duration of the sessions.

Get in touch to find out how this can be delivered in your workplace or to your group.

“It was really great to take space from the working day and be guided through something creative. It felt like a safe space as everyone was present and invested in giving the activities a go, and Alice was a kind and reassuring leader. I liked that we had our solo writing time which flew by, and we were accountable for actually doing it as we were in the group setting.”

Building Confidence

All too often, confidence eludes us. But through this workshop, participants will learn tools to harness the power of this elusive quality, allowing them to tap into it at the times they need it most. We’ll explore the elements that make up confidence, the beliefs that might be holding them back and how we can crack them apart.

Participants will get an increased understanding of tools for accessing confidence, increased understanding of what makes up confidence, increased understanding of the beliefs that may be impacting confidence.

Alice's supportiveness and openness created a non-judgemental space where it was possible to be vulnerable without feeling unsafe. Alice was great at asking us to look further than the obvious and dig into what we were trying to say, superb coaching skills. Alice put everyone at ease and built rapport with everyone in the room so that they could get the most out of the session.”

Storyteller Wellbeing

Charities across the globe rely on Storytellers to demonstrate the importance and impact of their work. But when charities ask people to share their stories, they're often asking them to relive difficult experiences and they're asking them to carry out the heavy work of emotional labour. As the people asking them to do that work, it's the charity's responsibility to make sure they're doing everything they can to make any conversations they're having with Storytellers as easy and positive as possible.

That’s where I come in. My Storyteller Wellbeing programme, designed to make sure those telling their stories to charities and on behalf of charities are appropriately supported through the process. Through my work, I've worked with CoppaFeel!, Teenage Cancer Trust, Trekstock and Breast Cancer Now, and have pioneered this Storyteller Wellbeing programme for CoppaFeel!

This work includes offering tools for before, during and after working with Storytellers and includes staff training, Storyteller support, policy development, coaching and much more.

“Alice's genuine care can be felt across all aspects of our Storyteller Wellbeing project. She brought the perfect mix of subject knowledge, emotional intelligence, sensitivity and creativity. Her ability to turn all of our many chats into tangible resources, policies and training was expert. We couldn't have worked with anyone better suited for this project.

Creativity Bursts

Research has shown that there’s a parallel between maintaining a regular creative practice and improved mental health. A daily creativity showed a “clinically meaningful improvement in wellbeing”. Bring a daily burst of creativity into your life with Creativity Bursts.

A series of curated emails prompting creativity amongst participants. Each task will take 10-15 minutes to complete but will encourage further creativity, sharing and gentle coaching beyond the initial practice. Each challenge will allow the participants to explore different elements of creativity - there’ll be writing prompts, photography prompts, imagination challenges, ways to subvert the status quo and opportunities to think completely differently.

Building Resilience

Resilience - i.e the ability to respond to pressure and handle stress well - is crucial - especially in the world we’re living in now. But it’s especially important in the workplace. It can help you manage deadlines, working relationships and stress effectively, while also protecting you from various mental health conditions like depression, anxiety and burnout. In this workshop we’ll explore what resilience really is, why it’s important, we’ll examine stress and physical responses to it and look at how we can build resilience both outside work and in the workplace so if things get tricky, we’ve already got our armour on.

Alice made the space feel really safe and allowed everyone to relax into the workshop. Being able to speak without fear of judgement was really beneficial for the session.”
