Why Authenticity Unlocked?

I vividly remember when the first photo was taken. I was absolutely THRILLED when this bow tie arrived. I remember being so keen to take a photo of it. But when I look at this photo, I see someone who is chronically unhappy, despite a pretty great bow tie.

I'd just had time off work for depression for the first time. I was lost and tired and knew that something wasn't right but I couldn't put my finger on what or why. I look at this person now and I can see how broken they are. How disconnected. How her confidence and resilience are both pretty non existent. She was dissatisfied with the place she'd found herself, despite living and loving in London and working towards a career she thought she wanted.

Swipe across to the second photo. That was last week. I've just got back from a bit of time off again. And I don't have my own eyebrows anymore, cos cancer took 'em and didn't let me get them back, but the person in the second photo? Ooooft. Yeah, maybe she's older. Maybe she's wiser. But she's also happier. She's got to know herself better. She doesn't do sh*t that makes her feel uncomfortable. She doesn't show up every day for a job that probably dulls the fire in her soul. She knows her values and she recognises when she's misaligned from them. She listens to the little voice that tells her what she really thinks. She's got more grey hairs and she's got a lot more scars. But she's also more confident. More resilient. Braver. More self-assured.

I created Authenticity Unlocked for the gal in the first photo and for anyone who feels like her. Because I know there are lots of us who've felt like this. I created it for those who are burnt out, overwhelmed, anxious and disconnected. For those who feel like they're constantly doing, but never quite being. For those who crave a life that feels aligned, intentional and authentically theirs.

I created it for the person I was when I was lost and sad and a bit scared. And I wonder if you identify with that person in the bow tie. Because if it does, that means I created it for you too.

But what does ‘living authentically’ really mean? And why should it matter to you? In real terms, it’s being unapologetically you. Showing up, warts and all, to do the things that set your heart on fire. Saying no to things that don’t bring you joy. Showing up with confidence and clarity. Being able to take the knocks the world throws at you because you’re not wasting energy being someone you’re not.

And the results when we show up with confidence and clarity? Ai ai ai. We’re able to FULLY show up in all the parts of our lives. Whether we’re raising kids, smashing our careers, advocating for change or striving to be a contented person, we’re able to be ourselves in 4d. Not just a shadow of the person we think we should be.
